Bikemobile, how do you like the Monroe Load Levelers shocks? Did the stock mll's give you any lift? How do they ride-- I heard they can be squeaky. Thinking about those and the 2" Bilstein adjustable 5100 strut combo with 245/75r17's or 255/70r17's.

I am going down the same path. The stock length MLL's gave 1.5" of lift unloaded. They stiffened the ride a bit but not in an unpleasant way. I've put 4,000 miles on them and no squeaks. 200+ miles of rough roads and 4lo trails since they were installed also. Really happy overall. They will rake a stock wk quite a bit unloaded. They would be a great match to a 2" lift up front. 5100's are on my short list. Trying to decide between the 1.5 and 2" setting on the 5100. For longevity and reliability's sake.

Those pictures make me jealous and excited to improve my WK! I had been planning on buying a JK but am leaning toward keeping my paid off WK.

Other than more height is there a difference between setting the 5100 between 1.5 and 2"?

I thought about getting a JK also. Take a ride in one, front seat and backseat. They simply are too cramped inside. Not just legroom but overall cramped. I was not impressed. This was a 2014 rubicon.

I will probably go with 1.5" when I do the bilsteins so that nothing is "maxed out." I like a little room for error.

Besides, my WK can go anywhere a stock or slightly lifted 4dr rubicon can. With heated leather seats, IFS handling and a V8.

There are advantages to both vehicles....the JK/JKU are great vehicles and if I did not have the WK diesel I would be in the Wrangler...check out my build in the link below.

I like the WK a lot-- it's a Laredo X and by far the nicest vehicle I've owned. Heated leather seats, remote start, Bose stereo, back up camera, etc. The best part is I paid $29k new with a $39k sticker and 0% financing when Chrysler was going under in 2010. The bad part is it has a 3.7 and qt1 and was intended as a family wagon, not an off road vehicle. However , I've been pretty impressed with what it can do in stock form with just upgraded tires. It's just about paid off and at 90k miles has been very reliable, not even needing brakes until now. My offroading has become very mild with 2 small kids so with an improved suspension and some skid plates it will probably suffice.

Yep I have wheeled with the some guys running the 3.7L and QT1 and they went everywhere I went....in tough offroading just be aware of temperature issues...in some cases you are maxing out QT1 and maybe the engine.....You could also invest in an ARB rear air locker in the future for the 8.25 Chrysler rear end.

I've found the the lack of ground clearance and lack of power to be more of limiting factor than the QT1. I rarely use low range on my other Jeeps anyway. The ground clearance I can remedy since it needs new shocks and struts anyway. Improving the 3.7 is a little more complicated!
