Jeep XJ mini spare tire.

I've thought about carrying a tube. If you lost a side wall real bad you could patch it with plastic/card board/sweatshirt whatever you got and use the tube to hold the air. Course you will need a way to get the tire over the rim as well.

2 spares

When I'm out by myself it's always 2 spares and the tools to fix a flat or sidewall tear.

When I used to carry only one spare I once got a flat early on and it made the balance of the trip less enjoyable knowing that I was spareless.

gawd I love that rig. We're both your spares full size?
what was the overall mpg of it loaded up for a trip, sven?
thanks, i loved it too :))))
i always carry two full-size spares. one option is to only bring the tire (without the rim) for the second spare. but of course you gotta have the tools and knowhow to swap the tire to another rim...
well honestly, it was not great! i got about 220miles out of one tank...
so about 12mpg
staying at a speed of 55mph i could get it up to 16-16mpg - that's it.

but it was very heavy - i never weighed it but the roofrack alone probably had about 2-300lbs

I hardly ever carry a spare. I know I should but I don't. I have on board air and a plug kit, I know it wont fix everything but it has worked out for me so far. Also I don't go alone and everyone else in the group has a spare.
