Jerry Can Camp Wash System

Recently I value engineered a camp wash system based on a product offered by Sandy Cats. This system uses a Scepter jerry can, lithium battery pack, and RV galley water pump.

I was previously using a Hart Tools 20v Rinser that I picked up about 4 years ago from Walmart, and while it did a good job, after about 4 years of light use for washing hands, dishes, and showering, it stopped working.

A few things I was looking to rectify compared to the Hart system was replaceable parts, modular, and a quiet pump, as the one on the Hart could wake the dead. It sounded like a pressure washer pump but the pressure was barely better than that of a garden hose.

While not the cheapest DIY project I was able to cut the cost down significantly compared to an off the shelf product of similar quality. This was primarily achieved by using fittings from Gardena, a German company that seems to make very well built lawn hose products. The quick connect fittings even had a few dabs of white lithium grease in them for smooth operation. The Sandy Cats product is top notch, but it uses commercial fittings that are cost prohibitive for anyone not buying in bulk.

Enjoy the Build Video and let me know if you have any questions.
