Jerry can ID question

I scored these two Jerry cans and a single spout to share between them on craigslist for $35...I thought it was a good price. I'll need to buy (or make) some carriers for these. What style are these cans? I have seen references to Nato, Sceptor, etc., but don't know much about the various styles.

So which ones are these?

They're Blitz style cans, very similar to USGI jerry cans. Most hardware stores have carriers for them. They usually leak, and need to be stored in the upright position.
I've seen these locally for $70 each new. Sounds like you did okay if they're in good shape.

I concur with Wyowanderer, these are very similar to the GI Jerry cans. You should be able to get the can holders at almost any auto parts or 4 wheel parts store. These are the more common cans. I’m not familiar with Sceptor, but the main difference between the “Nato” style and the jerry cans is the filler opening and the bottom of the cans. The Nato can has a rounded bottom (no lip), and the jerry can has the lip. Most tire carriers are set up for the lipped cans.

Nice score!

Happy trails!

I would also pick up new seals for them when you pick up the mounts. My dad has had a set like that for 35 years, and they work great and do not leak as long as the seal is in good shape and the caps are screwed down tight.

The best part of that score is the cam lock type spout. Hard to find. I have the screw in type and they are NOT as good. A buddy has one of the cam style and as soon as I figure out how to steal it....

The cam lock spouts are sweet! Much better than the screw in style for sure.

Check the inside of the cans good, the paint/lining/whatever is in there, starts flaking after a few years (or from any bangs/dents in the can)

This junk will plug a fuel filter in a hurry. If your cam lock spout has a good screen in the ned still, it will catch 99% of the gunk.

I usually use a clear 1/2" hose and place the can higher than what I'm filling, and siphon the fuel. Found out the hard way I had a can that was peeling inside.
