JK- Expedition One Bumpers

Finally got rid of the stock bumpers.
Front:
I wanted full width coverage, access to my winch drum, able to mount LED lighting, retain the stock fogs.
So, i ended up with the E1 bumper.

While the VR series Warn's are not at the top of their foodchain, I feel confident that this winch will do well. I had to modify the solonoid bracket, bolts, and mounted over the drum vs off to the side. This was the only way to integrate the 20" Rigid with it. I can rotate the solonoid box up if needed to get at the rope. I have about 1.5" between the final wrap and the box. figure if you're winching, you'r pulling out two wraps min. anyhow. So should be OK there.

Rear:
I wanted full width protection, coverage on the rear quarters, shackle tabs, linked to rear door. the E1 bumper fit all of requirements. I still have to get their CB antenna mount and Hi-Lift mount though.

You can see the tire is raised up higher over stock height. This gives you a better dp angle offroad. Great news for Mtn Bike haulers using Yakima or Thule. you'll be able to hinge your rack down and open the rear gate. you'll still need an extension to clear the tire though.

All the weight is on the spindle. The link to the door works well. It opens with the rear gate. no need to open a tire swing and than the rear gate.

INSTALLATION:

FRONT:
The installation went well. All holes lined up. If you have a 2012, you need to relocate the vacuum pump from the framerail up to the engine bay on teh drsd. E1 does offer a bracket for this too.

you can install the bumper 1st. Than install the winch. there is pleanty of room to route the wires and get to all bolts.

REAR:
was much easier than the front. no modifcation or drilling was needed. you do need a 1.5" socket to tighten the nut on the spindle. While this was not exactly a "standard" size for my tool colection, i ended up using channel locks and was able to get it torqued down. When I got to the shop the next day, we found that very little extra torque was needed.

installing the rear bumper was done in about 30 mintues including the removal of the stock one. The other 3 hours was spent installing/ adjusting the rear carrier. this process was time consuming, but not difficult. you can wath their Youtube vid for some quick refference points. http://www.youtube.com/user/ExpeditionOneTV/videos
I found this to be helpful. Although my bracket on the rear gate was the updated version. It's pretty strong!!!

All in all, I put my stamp of approval on this bumper. well designed, powdercoat looks great, fit was on!!!

I'll get some better pics up once I get the Hi-lift mount and CB antenna moount on.

Some sort of lost...
They look good! I'm still undecided with bumpers. I really like the poison spyder mid width front and more narrow rear bumper, if I decide to run flat fenders. But the full width bumper makes a lot more sense with stock fenders and offer much better protection in the woods.
I like the black addicts too, I almost bought those but the backspacing on the pintlers was more appealing to me.

no retreat, no surrender
I've got the same front bumper/winch combo. Got my hubby to get me the bumper for Christmas last year. Getting the rear for Christmas this year. I think they are really top notch... well built.... nicely powder coated... and good looking too!

3/8" X 100' of synth line. spooling it up under load, it fits pretty snug onto that drum.
