JK/JKU stock rear bumper mods

Hey all,

This applies to the JK/U guys. Has anyone removed the rear plastic bumper cover? Mine is pretty beat up and I'm curious to see what's underneath that waste of plastic and what'd look like when removed. I removed the front plastic bumper cover and am happy with the looks. New bumpers are currently out of my budget so this is why I ask. Thanks!

Yeah it's pretty much just the frame. There are a lot of guys who just roll with it like that, and there are after market covers to make it look a little cleaner, as well as after market shackle tabs for it.

The world of Jeep mods is crazy. Everything has been thought of.

This guy runs with no rear bumper, a beauty plate, and shackle tabs. Personally I don't like the look, but its definitely a viable option.

I took mine off the day I brought it home and threw it in the dumpster. I had a buddy weld a two inch receiver into the frame and never looked back. It's just something else to hang you up on the trail and provides no body protection.
