JK Unlimited Rear Organization (cargo/storage/bed setup)

figured i'd share my attempt at organizing the rear of my new JKU.

below are the items that get left in pretty much all the time. everything else varies widely depending on length of trip, how many people are coming, weather, remoteness, etc. i usually go solo, but sometimes the GF and kid do come, and our trips range from day runs to a week plus.

everything deployed:

this is also my daily driver, so i wanted to have most items be easily removable. only the main shelf and false-floor are semi-permanent.

thanks guys! it's a little different than all the guys with the raised floors and big wood drawers, but it works for me.

Excellent work theksmith! Very creative and clean installation.

After seeing your post I was inspired to add a gas strut to support the lid of my 37qt ARB. No more holding lid open with my head when rooting through the fridge.

what thickness did you use for the false floor?
thats a nice idea on the false floor, how is it holding up? anything you would have changed?

thanks!

i used 1/2" for the floor, but if i were to do it again, i'd use 3/4" - the Starlite (or Starboard) isn't very rigid.

other than it looking a small bit wavy because of that lack of stiffness, it's holding up perfect. EDIT - to be clear, that hasn't gotten any worse (even during the Phoenix summer), it was slightly warbled since first tightening it all down.

It's a 50N (11.25 lb) lifting stay / strut from Lee Valley.

Here's a link to the site and specific part (P/N 00T02.30):

http://www.leevalley.com/US/hardware/page.aspx?p=74618&cat=3,41419,43745

There may also be similar low force struts available on Amazon or eBay for a better price.

One nice feature of the Lee Valley strut is that the end attached to the lid rests in a slot rather than being fixed in a ball socket. This makes opening the lid past the stroke of the strut very easy.

initial tests were good, but my tall stature and giant feet made it seem just a tiny bit cramped - my toes were always touching the fold-down tailgate table and thus i couldn't quite get comfortable "stretched-out".

a quick modification to the passenger front seat to lean forward more gave me those extra few inches i wanted. seat mod details here: https://offroadpassport.com/forum/showpost.php?p=46565&postcount=24

Is he starboard floor holding up? Seems like it would be prone to scratches. And where did you get it in charcoal grey? I can only find them buy the sheet for $200+$200 shipping.

the Starlite is holding up fine. it does scratch easily, but the marks mostly just blend in to me. mine is actually black; the textured finish is matte and so i guess that's why maybe it looked dark gray in some photos?

i purchased all my larger cut-to-size Starlite & Starboard from here: http://www.boatoutfitters.com/marine-plastic-sheet.html

i've purchased a few smaller pieces of custom-cut Starboard from here before as well: http://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic/king_starboard/526

Amazon sells Seaboard sheets (comparable to King Starboard) with free shipping if you have Amazon Prime: http://amzn.to/2ll7NHI

i see you are in Seattle, so i'd guess your best bet would be a local marine supply shop or custom boat manufacturer...

Thanks. I figured it out. I ordered Seaboard from amazon as you mentioned, and the color/texture is undesirable.. very black, lots of texture. King Starboard sheets are more muted black with smoother texture.
