i made my own mainly because i wanted a larger opening than the German ones have (for a little more airflow for here in AZ):

the Window Sox and Skeeter Beater style screens are the simplest and least expensive solutions, but can't be used if it's raining. there's also no doubt the German company's are much nicer than my contraptions and would likely last forever... just posting this as a different and fairly easy DIY option for folks.
