I'm sure some of you know Joey L's crazy awesome work. If you're not familiar with Joey L certainly check out his images. Anyway he made this killer little 16 minute behind the scenes look at shooting the Mentawai.

Here's the link if the embedded video isn't working for you.

I'd not heard of him before- made me look him up- that was very informative.
He exploded onto the photography scene only a few years ago as a self taught kid and is already widely considered to be one of the finest leading edge portrait photographers working.

When I first saw his work he was only 17 or 18 and he already had portfolio that would make seasoned vets envious. I think he's around 20 now and his work has only gotten better in my estimation. His personal work is out of this world. His Ethiopia work blew me away and I think his most recent Menawai portaits are every bit the equal.

Here's a look at what he did in Ethiopia.

Fun video- definitely a young kid, his casual, easy going personality belies his depth and an amazing ability to capture the human spirit. Checked out his website.
I enjoyed the ethiopia series even more- muted tones, and the group shot under what appears to be a banyan tree, on a riverbank, is spectacular.
I also like the one with the young girl sitting on the shore. (I'm still biased towards a little bit of landscape in the frame :), rookie tendency I suppose)

Thanks for the inspiration

I ordered this video and we had a little party at our house with some fellow photo junkies. It was pretty cool to watch, but I was a bit disappointed that it didnt get more into the photography side of it.

Its more of a documentary about how he got there. Rather short too, but it's still a cool video.

Just wondering if anyone else ordered it and watched it. The video had a wierd tint to it and was more of a yellow tint to the entire thing like they toned down the saturation and added a yellow hue to everything

Thanks for the link Trevor
