Joined the 80 club

My wife has been driving a very nice 1979 Mercedes W116 300SD but she has been complaining that it makes her feel like an old woman. So, today we cut a deal on a 94 FJZ80. She used to drive FJ55's in her youth so the 80 should give her her youth back. I would have preferred one with lockers front and rear but this one has a locking center differential. Red, 136k miles, cloth interior, 2 owners, current owner has owned for a couple of years but his teenage son who had been driving it, wants a pick up truck. Haven't picked it up yet since the seller learned that there is a Colorado law that says if the buyer is subject to emissions testing, the seller must have at least one year left on the emissions certificate when selling and he didn't so he has to get it emissions tested.
It's been twenty years since we owned a LandCruiser and I'm looking forward to enjoying it.

Not sure. Got it in Castle Rock. Teenager named Josh was the main person I talked to (his dad was the owner) but Josh did say his older brother drove it. Could be Max I suppose.

Nice looking rig. You don't have to worry about removing the roof rack or the running boards, so that's a nice touch.

Since it has a cloth interior, is it likely that it came from the factory without a roof rack or running boards in a less expensive trim package.

My 1994 came with the roof rack and running boards.

Probably won't do a lot. May put an Aussie Locker in the rear but I think Landcruisers are pretty capable out of the box. I've got a receiver mount winch for my Fuso FG so I may add receiver hitches back and front so I can mount the winch on the 80.

Picked it up today. Seller had to do some work to pass emissions. Changed oil, tune up, oxygen sensors and new cats.

First - great purchase! I'm partial to '94. Only owner of my truck now with 202K on her.

Nice to hear the PO replaced the O2 sensors. This model year is notorious for eating O2's. I just plan on about every 30-40K to replace mine! :Wow1:

They are extremely capable trucks stock, regardless of front/rear lockers or not.
