Yes, you do. Do you have a definite move planned?

The plan is once I'm out of school (late next year or early 2018) to move out there. Might be Coeur d'Alene, might be Spokane, might be Seattle. Depends on where I find work. But yeah, it's definitely happening.

So I took a camping and hiking trip up to the Hoh Rainforest on the Olympic Peninsula last weekend with Mrs. jhberria. For those of you that have never been to or even heard of this place, it can only be described as magical. It's one of the largest temperate rainforests in the U.S. and we really lucked out on the weather.

We started our visit, after a three hour drive up the Pacific Coast, by hiking the Hall of Mosses trail. This is a short loop that winds through some of the most intricate and beautiful flora I've ever seen.

After completing the Hall of Mosses, we moved on to the Hoh Rover Trail. This one wasn't nearly as scenic, sans offering an amazing view of the river and Olympic peaks.

After doing a few miles of the River Trail, we migrated to our camp site (also on the Hoh River) and the wife began cooking our breakfast burritos (breakfast for dinner!?! Say what?!?) while I started a fire and set up camp. Not long after getting settled in our spot, a herd of Roosevelt Elk began grazing through the River campground, these things were mostly fearless, beautiful animals. They're apparently the largest of the North American Elk subspecies. They spent the better part of 2 hours meandering across our campsite, with one cow walking within 5 feet of us while we were eating. It was one of my most enjoyable camping experiences, to date.

And just so this post isn't completely void of vehicle pictures: The X in camp-mode being flanked by the Mrs.

Long story short, if you're in the PNW and have been considering a trip to the Hoh, just do it.

On the way back home, we decided to stop at Ruby Beach on the western side of the Pensinsula for a walk on in the sand. This is another one of those breathtaking landscapes that seem to be abundant out on the OP.

Oh yes, and I did this with some free time this afternoon. Wasn't too terribly difficult, and refilling the M226 is wayyyyyy easier now with the high-fill hole on the ARB.

Thanks for looking - Josh

I am speechless. Never would have guessed that those rainforest pictures were taken in North America. Definitely a top place to visit!

Now on my list of places to visit! Sweet pics man!

As previously mentioned, I highly recommend a visit. I'm thinking about putting together some sort of group outing for an Olympic Pensinsula Loop over the Summer for us Washington folk. Spending three or four days touring the OP while staying on as much dirt as possible.

In the words of my wife, "It looks like a Disney movie set." It does. The pictures don't do it justice. It had this strange primordial feeling as you could literally transition between three different ecosystems by walking for 15 minutes.

So Trixter404 and myself did some exploring/wheeling/camping around Tillamook State Forest in Western Oregon this weekend. It rained. It snowed. It sleeted. We had a blast. Tillamook is both a scenic state forest and tourist destination AND a designated OHV park. It was my first wheeling trip to Oregon and well worth the trip.

Most of the pictures of my X were taken by Trixter (hence the generally higher quality and clarity) while most of the pictures of Trixter's X were taken by me (on my cell phone while balancing a breakfast burrito in the same hand).

There was quite a bit of snow and mud on many of the trails, which coupled with some steep hill climbs made them quite fun. The Xterra continues to impress me with its ability with a good set of tires and a modest lift. Trails that I literally could barely walk up because of the slippery terrain, the X crawled right up with very few issues. I know Steve (Trixter) shares that sentiment.

Here's a picture Trixter took of our eventual campsite, adjacent to wide and fast flowing creek. Steve got the opportunity to test his new RTT this weekend, which I'm sure was appreciated considering the incessant rain.

Many an innocent beer can were crushed on this site.

Whoever took them, freaking awesome photos. Beautiful scenery. Like swipe them for PC wallpapers good.

Glad to see you are wheeling with RTT's. I was looking at mine up there and thinking "oh my god is this gonna work........"

Would be a destination for me as well. I'm definitely going to be showing these to the wife... "See Honey. We could be going here, and places like this. Are you sure you don't want me to get a 4x4?" :D

Did you have to use 4LO? Since I'm still shopping for a rig and I'd like a 4LO, but something more "car-like" may be an easier sell.

Great pictures. The wife and I have ridden the Olympic Peninsula and all over the Oregon coast on our motorbikes and it really is an epic part of the world.

It was a great time, although it would have been nice if the rain had let up while we enjoyed beer and brats around the campfire. And I definitely did not expect to see snow with the mostly mild winter that we've had and spring just around the corner. I'm looking forward to spending some more time down there during better weather.
