Sucks you can't make the rally again this year, man. I'll take plenty of pictures for you to revel in. We should try to meet up somewhere east of the Cascades this year, unless you want to haul the Frontier all the way out to the coast :smiley_drive:

September is pretty much a wash for me, as I'll be in India for work the whole month. August or early fall would likely be doable, though.

August would work for me. I have posted a query in the BC 4x4 forum, to get some insight on running the Whipsaw Trail. I'll see what comes up and let you know. I would certainly be interested in making a good weekend of this. I know that even in September it can get cold and snowy up in the mountains, so I think after September might be out. I've also read that it can be "busy" on our long weekends, so planning around a BC long weekend could be something to consider.

Ahh man I'd love to, but I'm getting married and our honeymoon is a 10-day overland(ish) trip up in the Canadian Rockies, so I don't know if I'd be able to make it out that far. I'll have a look though and see if there's a way I can swing it.

Also.

Need. Snorkel. Pics. :D

Bravo on the honeymoon plan. I couldn't talk my wife into anything but Costa Rica.

... And I'm trying to post a snorkel picture, but photo bucket appears to be doing site maintenance. Install was fairly quick and simple, no major issues were encountered.

That last sentence was a bold-faced lie.

Yeah she's about adventurous as I am. I lucked out there.

Hahahahahahahaha! I know for a fact installing a snorkel is never simple.

Finally got the picture uploaded.

Behold, the power of SnOrKeLz.....

It looks awesome! Worthwhile install for the cool factor alone. :D

Beautiful as usual! Now that I have finally ditched my old worn out stock suspension for a full OME lift I no longer have an excuse for not getting out and exploring more!

And I'm with SpecV, I need an ARB now!

That snorkel is awesome. That is certainly going on my list. Very cool.

Thanks!

I want a snorkel. Nice rig!

No better time than the present to get one:)

Wow looks great! How long did it take for you to get it mounted up?

All told, about 7 hours. That's including several beer-breaks and points of friction along the way. Now that I've done it once, I could probably do it in 3 or 4.

Looks fantastic man. Welcome to the club. Now I just need to join the ARB and White Knuckle Club.

Thanks man!

Yep! The X on the OME setup should take you quite a few interesting places. Congrats on the new suspension.

Well I'm certainly game for planning a trip in the late summer or early fall, and could potentially lure a few folks from the Northwest Xterra Club, as well. You should consider making it down into Washington this summer, as well, for a trail run or camping trip!

It's been a bit, but you still considering the possibility of a Whipsaw Trail run at some point in August? I have not found any other groups that I know of that are making a run in August, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be up for it anyways. If it's something you're seriously up to, then we should start throwing some ideas around.

A couple things to consider. We have a BC Day long weekend up here on august 1st. It gives us a long weekend, (which is awesome) but it would likely mean "traffic" on something like the Whipsaw Trail. It will also be hot, possibly ******** hot, and extremely dry. Their will be a fire ban for sure (so a campfire will most likely be out of the question), and I generally am very, very, very cautious about using anything with flame in our forests at this time of year.

Let me know what you think, and who else may be interested. I'm happy to help out organizing and guiding to the trailhead, but once we hit the Trail I'll be as new to it as everyone else.

I'm absolutely still interested. I'll have to look at my work calendar and see what I have available in the way of long weekends. I understand the fire concerns, especially with what's going on in Alberta right now. As long as we have a decent trail map, I don't think navigation will be an issue. Also, based on what I've read, I don't think the trail itself is too terribly difficult.

Have you considered attending the NW Overland Rally this year?

I really wanted to attend the NW Rally, but we are leaving for Colorado the week after and I'll need that weekend to make sure everything is ready for our two week trip. Hopefully next year.

The whipshaw trail would be a really cool one to do! Don't know when I'd get time but it is certainly on the bucket list.
