50% tread left after 30k is a 60k tire. That's not bad at all, especially if you off-road it.
I have two sets of Cooper ATPs (this is Discount Tire's "exclusive" rebranded AT3 so they don't have to price-match). Both in Load E. One set is daily driven on our suburban, the other is on the Disco. Obviously I bought them for the dollar value, requiring Load Range C or higher for sidewall strength (my P-rate Micheleans had horrible off-road traction and the sidewall gave up the ghost on a mild forest trail).
I've found them to perform adequately and for the $$ I was considering them a replacement for my 2500HD pickup tires, but now you guys have me all-sorts of concerned...
.
The BIGGESTS issue I've noticed is noise. The "whump whump* reminded me of the old Goodyear Wrangler (now Duratrac) 31x12.50s on my old ZJ. They started making noise on the Disco first and I thought it was a wheel bearing (not good, with the unnatural amount of torque required (and thus a very expensive wrench) for a D2 wheel bearing! Then I got behind the family Suburban and notice the same noise.
Now I just deal with it......because I"m too cheap to pay extra for the STT-Max or the Duratracs.
Not sure what I'll put on the truck now, ATPs were a lock......maybe I'll just win this competition and get me some STTs for it...
