Headers... thats another thing I forgot to mention. Your stock manifolds "should" be the ram horn style (looks like ram horns lol) if so you are not going to see much improvment with a set of headers. The ram horn manifolds are some of the best flowing exhaust manifolds ever made. They retain low end backpressure yet still flow more than enough for a mild small block. pic below

^ those ram horns are great manifolds. They flow well and they also don't warp/leak like most headers do. Unless you are spending top dollar headers are too much of a pain imo. The ram horns are getting hard to find these days though hopefully your Suburban already has a set on it :bike_rider:

Cool find, there's a panel (no window) same gen suburban down the street from me and its pretty sweet. If you want to increase power I suggest using a setup like the Edelbrock Performer system where the cam, carb & manifold are all matched components to work together - then add the heads down the line for even more flow & power if needed. It takes the guesswork out of the buildup on the motor and simplifies the process.

I actually have those manifolds. Oddly I was told they were high performance and a good find. I guess I'll keep them.

Good idea. You will like them vs. headers. You would need to be making a lot more HP at a lot higher rpm to notice any benefit to headers.

Now where is that SPID picture(s)???:coffeedrink:

Love the rig! Mine is a little bit older than yours, but interestingly enough, I did a full axle swap a couple years back to the exact same axles you have now.

Hope I see you around!

Nerd, that `Burb´you have is absolutly amazing.:Wow1: You have hopefully realized the awesome purchase that you have made. Also, the more `stock´the vehicle is, the more it is worth. Congrats on such a nice example and please post LOTS of pics. We love pics!:)

Just saw this thread, had to post this!

I've got a 72 C/20, which means Custom 3/4 ton, a C/10 was Custom 1/2 ton. But mine is a C/20 Deluxe! Deluxe came with carpet and hounds tooth seats. With purchase of vehicle, I'm in this about $15,000, new 500hp 454, th400, transfer case,
3" dual exhaust flowmaster Super 44's, new 4 core radiator bla bla bla... Dana Axles, Serpentine system.... litterally everything is new except body and interior. :sombrero:

Man I love that suburban, I wish mine was like that. As for now I have completed the first series of engine mods and improvements. When I got it it had an Edelbrock intake and carb sitting the back so I put the intake on but kept the Quadrajet. I like that Quadrajet and have heard Edelbrock's carbs don't do that well off road at steep inclines. I also added a 1" spacer and all new gaskets including the valve covers. I changed to an electronic distributor, wires, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil change and set the timing. The truck sounds good and pulls better. Next up is to turn the rotors and put a dual exhaust on it. I'll post photos tomorrow. Almost forgot I replaced the water pump as the shaft was wobbly and made the motor vibrate. Fixed now.
