Just bought a 1943 MBT Trailer

This need a lot of work, but I am hopeful that I can turn it into something great. Someone cut the rear off and used the existing rear peice as a tailgate.

I think that I will build my own tailgate and I want to do a spring over on it. Is there a way to make the lug patteren match 5 on 4.5? I would like to get it to mach my Cherokee. Or should I just go for a new axle so I dont have to worry about making the brakes work?

What have others done with tailgates to make the side stiff? The sides feel really flimsey with the back chopped off.

Welcome to the portal!

I ended up replacing the axel on mine with a home built, but I don’t know about the MBT. Mine is a M416. I used a CJ tailgate on mine. Post up some pictures so we can get a look at it. You can do allot of reinforcement with angle iron.

Actually I am going to put this one up for sale $600 OBO
I found an m100 that I am going to use instead. Both great trailers to start with but I like the m100 more

XJbanker,
I knew this trailer would end up here sooner or later. I had actually tried to meet up with the Lee, the guy you bought it from, two days earlier than the day you bought it last week. After emailing back and forth a few times He ws supposed to call me so I could drop the money off to him. When he finally contacted me he said you had bought it. Its a small world. Good luck with the sale. Let me know if nothing works out.

I actually had my dad pick it up for me because I was in Jackson Hole. The only reason I am going to sell this one is because I bought another one on my way home from Jackson Hole an M100. My wife wont let me have two. You are welcome to come look at it if you want. PM and let me know.
