Not really an expedition per say....more like a short vacation.

:arabia:

We went to Ambergris Caye/Caye Caulker for 6 days then rented a Tracker and drove to Tikal and Placencia. Sorry I don't have time to do a full write-up but let's just say it was one of my best trips ever.

You know the rule that says you're not supposed to drive after dark...?

try getting a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and realizing that one of the lugnut is stripped. Thankfully some truck drivers stopped by and had the proper tools to help us....namely a huge chisel and the giant sledgehammer...

Great pics! I love that area. My wife and I were there last year. I can't wait to go back! Looks like you had quite the adventure.

Nice!!! Certainly a beautiful country, isn't it? Glad to see you had a great time. I wish we would have pushed it, and gone into Guatemala to see Tikal. We did catch Cahal Pech and Xunantunich on the border.

yes I had missed Tikal the first time I went to Guatemala on my motorcycle about 8 years ago...there was no way I would miss it this time.

:)

I was amazed by this place. It is in my opinion one of the most impressive places on earth.

Do you mind if I steal your Tikal photos to show my US History students? I teach about the early people in N and S America in a couple of weeks here...
