Fireball, I wish I would have known sooner. My wife is actually at the dealer right now doing up the paperwork to pick up the 100. But I did look at Main Line Overland's site and there is a ton of stuff there, thank you for pointing them out to me.

100 series will be the best option as far as a DD, capable of driving cross-country without much hassle and it still provides excellent off-roading performance. Space-wise, as mentioned above, you may get a bit cramped.

Well here it is, along with my drahthaar, who thinks any open door is an invitation to go for a ride. First thing when I get home is to get the running boards off then just drive her. Now to think of a name, that's where the kids will come in I guess.

Thanks for all the opinions everyone. I felt from the beginning the 100 was the best but the 80 just looked so damn cool, and seeing all the other 80 builds on here I really wanted to go that route. But I think for my needs now and in the future the 100 will be the best thing. Can't wait to get home and head to the coast for some family camping!! The ducks and grouse in the fall!

If my crew was that big I'd strongly consider a sequoia. We love our 100 and with 2 kids and one large dog it takes a large Thule roof box to fit our stuff for trips. Any more people or pets inside and we'd need a trailer.

Yep better mileage also. I have two kids and a dog. Our LC was tight add a grand parent and the dog stayed home the 4spd LC I6 was a 13mpg machine. The Sequoia is 15mpg in town and 17mph highway. Far superior power and cooling also for high speed long highway trips.

3 kids +dog and gear go Yukon, Sequoia or 4dr pickup with bed cap. LC will be too small for long trips and associated stuff.

Woop you went 100. Good call but work on your packing options get a good roof box etc. I liked the 100 actually made an offer on two LX 470's but sellers wanted too much and they had not done the big TB service etc. I got a deal on our Sequoia 64,000 miles 07 for $21,000 all records original owner ;-)

Calicamper-I see where it could be cramped but so far my wife fit all kids in the second row with carseats. Both dogs fit in back we have a rear hitch mount for gear or access to a small trailer if need be for longer hauls. But for cross-country hauls we have a new expedition, wife's run around vehicle. I will mainly use the LC for hunting, fishing, dog training, and camping trips. Slowly but surely it will get upgraded with lift, wheels and tires, roof rack, etc but that will be down the road.

Compared to the 1991, the 100 series is the way to go. The early 80 series were essentially FJ62s with a better suspension and worse body. 93+ 80 series are awesome vehicles, but even still, the 100 series will do practically anything he 80 will, but with more power and comfort. That seems like a great 100 series for the price.

@azbuman - thanks for the kudos. It's a nice truck and the family and I really enjoy it. We've gone on some pretty fun trips the past 2 years and hope to continue the adventure. We had the 2 kids, siberian husky and wife and myself packed in there last summer for a 2.5 week trip out west.
