Just wondering about the Bolt Pattern on a 99 LC

I currently have a 05 Tacoma, but am running out of room with a growing family. I was looking a nice 99, but I also have an Adventure Trailer set up with the Tacoma bolt. I was wondering if the 99 LC and the 05 Tacoma have the same bolt pattern?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

To get this to work we would have to replace your 6 bolt hubs with 5 on 4.5 hubs, and then have a set of adapters made from 5 on 4.5 to 5 on 150mm.

The studs are also different so we would have to press in 14 mmX1.5 instead of the 12mmX1.5 you have now.

Also factor in two new 16" rims.

Thanks for the quick replies guys...

Martyn, Can you give an approximate cost to do this work? I can get the rims, but what would it cost to convert the hubs? I have e-brakes if that matters.

I can get $ numbers for the hubs.

If I remember correctly the rims are hub-centric so the adapters need to have a small rim/lip built into them to center it on the hub.

spressomon would remember what we did for his I think. Then we have to check on backspacing and work out how thick the adapters have to be to keep the inside of the tire away from the chassis.

I can ball park the adapters but I'd need backspacing numbers and the tire size you'd be running to be accurate.

I can e mail you a document on how to calculate your backspacing.

Martyn,

You need to ask Mario but notwithstanding the debate about whether or not the '98+ LC wheels are hub or lug centric I believe he/you ended up deciding for adapter/spacer purposes they were lug centric. I have always been of the impression, since they utilize flat bottom washer lug nuts (instead of conical bottom lug nuts) they are hub centric. Which if memory serves me was the first set you had machined for me only to realize they were wrong  . But check with Mario before you commence omachining :) .

By the way: The 3rd set you made for me, being wider/thicker, are that much nicer (except for the extra leverage on the wheel bearings...ain't no free lunch!).

8" wheel with 60mm offset.

Ah! the sweet imperial/metric mix.

We should call it Imperic or Metrial :)

Thanks for the info.

3 sets! You are officially Adapterman

Debate? All LCs are hub centric 1995+ (at least they were 96+), both the lugs and seat changed midstream in the LC80s, no?

Anyone know what was the precedent that worldwide we'd be talking in width and diameter of wheels in inches?

I remember Spressomon's rims as being "different". It's usually easy to tell if a rim is hub-centric because the holes in the rims, for the lug nuts, do not have a taper to them to center the rim.

But Spressomon's rims had all the characteristics of a hub-centric rim, but at the very bottom of the holes for the lug nuts there was a very slight taper. When I say very slight I mean you really had to look hard to see it, but it was there.

So let the debate continue.

Just read that. Here's my take. Contrary to 'mud (I can't believe I'm about to disagree with that expertise, but...) hub-centricity implies perfectly well to me that there should indeed be some play in the lug to the seat, it should be centered by the hub itself or a flange thereon not be the lug where a conical seat is required. The lug is mostly orthogonal to the hub face.

Just because there's a little bit of taper on the lug itself just helps with insertion for the first few threads and does not come into play on wheel-to-hub centering as it does on lug-centric wheels. The wheel isn't onto the hub|flange until further into the stud so that taper is just hand-assistive.

The mentioned balancing was simply a way to rotationally balance the wheel and tire not the centering of said wheel onto the hub. Does not mean the lug holes or the bore are/is geometrically off.

Wholly Mackreal..

Am I biting off more than I can chew? Is this a Major PITA?

Does the Horizon work well with the LC wheels?

Maybe I should just keep cramming the kids in the Taco.
