Valve Adjustment Impressions
Drove from LA back to Vallejo (school), seems to run about the same. Low rpm stumble seems to have improved (not as much vibration and rpm variation), although there is a "put-put" sound from the exhaust now that wasn't there before.
Driving up the mountains I overheated again. Seems like every time I drive this pass it overheats. Temperature in the mid 80's-90's, incline, running 2k-2.5k rpm, maybe 30-35mph. It's a new radiator, so I'm thinking water pump (inadequate water flow), fan (inadequate air movement), or air in the system.
Water pump I can't really test without pulling it. Water temperature is normal and stays constant in all other situations, only climbing during the day does it overwhelm the cooling system.
I tried the newspaper test on the fan, and it seems like the clutch is still good, when I rotate by hand the fan has a bit of resistance. When idling there's definitely airflow, but I don't know if it's enough or as efficient as when new.
I tried to purge air before by parking on an incline and starting it with the rad cap off. When the thermostat opened, very few, tiny bubbles came out for a second, then the coolant started to overflow. I closed it and shut the motor off. Catch can is topped off.
I may want to try replacing the thermostat with an OEM Isuzu one as well.
Advice?
