I just posted some pics in my album of the procedure for replacing a lens in a JW Speaker 8700 headlight. IMG_1978.JPG

Which model of 8700? Original glass with a replaceable lens or the Evolution with the non-replaceable polycarbonate lens?

How do you like the lights? They make a replacement set of LED headlights fot my FJ62 but at $400/ea and under 1,000 lumens they are super spendy.

They work quite well.

The best 7" LEGAL headlight replacement is the Hella 90mm bi-xenon; gaap master has them in his FJ60 and they're incredible.
Get them here: http://www.rallylights.com/hella-90mm-bi-xenon-headlamp-kit-for-7-sealed-beam.html
They can build a kit for any 7" application; talk to Ray or Dave.

I had the JWS 8700 (first gen) in my Jeep; I loved them.
I also like the new Trucklite Phase 7 but mostly for the low power draw. Their spread of light isn't ideal.

Look at the numbers in my shoot-out. The JWS product puts light where you need it for effective use. It's not all about big raw numbers.

BTW, the best lights I've ever tested on anything were the HIR bulbs in Scott's Grand Cherokee. HIR I&II can fit into 9005/9006 housings with some jiggering, safe and legal. He also ran wires, relays, and put a full amount of juice to them.
Spectacular results.
He's got the lights in his build thread: http://www.expeditionportal.com/for...Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-CRD?highlight=hilldweller

Original glass and I kept the glass. They have a polycarb replacement I was told. I like the glass for long term. It was a monstrous rock which hit the lens.

I spend a lot of time on the road, much of it at night. The color and beam of the JW Speakers is fantastic. I've got the fogs built into my bumper as well and they really compliment the headlights. I'd spend the money again.

The poly lens can take a better hit but will scratch and haze eventually.
I really liked the first iteration with the glass --- except for the fitment and the weight...
They also had the tricky little fans in them to circulate warm air to the glass and melt snow.

Not a perfect product. Yet. But a very good one.
