Well - my computer crashed completely as I was typing news here. 4+ hours and I'm back up and running minus any Outlook emails since my last back up of that system on 6.08 - shiat. Oh well.

One email lost was the response from Kaymar I received today. Basically they said IF the horizontal bar on the existing swingout (tire carrier) was no more than 270mm (maybe 370mm) then the dual jerry can carrier would fit. Well that horizontal bar is just under 26" or about 660mm. Wow! No way that dual jerry can carrier will fit on older Kaymar bumpers with the tire swingout!

Reply from Kaymay came back that the strut kit is not designed for the 60/62 swings. :(

I followed up with another e-mailing asking about the availability of a strut kit for an 80 series in case anyone is interested.

That's interesting because i thought all the arms were the same length, its where they positioned the "add-ons" that mattered. In other words, my single tire carrier and gerry can arms were identical to my dual swing out tire carriers... it was just where they decided to position the tires that changed on the arm.

Actually recieved an e-mail from Al Colebank at Man-A-Fre. They have 80 and 100 series strut retrofit kits in route, arriving mid April. For all the cup-holder lovers you may want to contact Man-A-Fre and get in line.

It looks like Kaymar has no love for the 60/62 guys.

What can I say Dave - I measured the arm on the truck when I got the email, converted my 26" to mm and knew the new dual can swingout would not fit. I'd quote the email directly, but it's in computer crash hell now.

Check with MAF when they get them in - April per Kaymar.

E-mail per Al at Man-A-Fre

Andrew,
Thanks. On fitting the new twin can carriers to existing bumpers, yes it can be done, but there is a catch. Kaymar builds their twin can carriers with the 2 cans side by side lined up with the bumper. This makes for a rather wide carrier assembly. To clear this they now make their tire carriers offset further to the opposite side to clear the new twin can carrier. This is not a problem if the bumper does not already have any carriers on it, but if the bumper already has a standard Kaymar tire carrier mounted, it will not clear the new can carrier.
Regards,
Al

What did you pay for the Kaymar rear bumper? I considered buying one from Man-A-Fre in Simi Valley (already bought the Kaymar spare tire carrier a few years back) but they are so dang expensive! looking to have a friend that wields a mean weld rig try to set me up with a custom job. After he builds my roof rack that I'm modeling after yours.:victory:

Whatever they charge is whatever they are. They're the only distributor for Kaymar here.

I picked up mine a couple years ago and the only way i could afford it at the time was to buy the bumper first and then each swing out later down the road. Since then, i've gone from a single tire carrier, to a singer tire carrier and gerry can, to two new arms with dual spares. I've also added the telescoping work lamp, hi lift mount and the license plate mount.

You could say Man-a-fre has emptied my wallet over the years :D

Dave hit the nail on the head - MAF is the one and only authorized Kaymar dealer here in the states. If you purchase Kaymar new from anyone else, they've bought it from MAF.

I put a call into MAF on Friday re: pricing. The person i spoke to was not aware of any price increase and had not seen any of the new bumpers...That said, i put myself on the list to get one. At this point i might so the same route as Dave and buy the bumper and then add the swing-outs in a month or so....

I was told in the email reply from Kaymar sales that MAF was getting their first delivery of the new bumper sometime here in April.

It's on my list!

Why hasn't it got an integrated 7 way trailer plug like the 100 series bumper does??

My guess would be because the 80 did not come with a 12v power feed along with the wiring to support the electric brakes (although very easy to add).
