Replacing mine now. Looks like the main problem with mine is the heat it was exposed to from the exhaust. The insulation is melted and cracked and thus the lubrication was cleaned out causing it to stick sometimes. I decided to buy a heat sleeve from a hot rod shop to slip over the new cable to prevent this from happening in the future.
If at all possible try not to do this when it is 100* outside.
