kinda OT, hubcaps

just got my newest issue of 4wd toyota owner and sae the little article on the fj 40/55 hubcaps. i've been working the 86 truck i have lately and i think a set of black wheels with hubcaps would fit the bill perfectly. did an 86 mini truck ever come with hubcaps? if not, will the fj 40/55 hubcaps fit the factory 15 inch wheels? it has the factory steel wheels on it now. thanks

I do believe some of the late 70's and very early-80's 4x4 pickups came with those same hubcaps. One of my teachers had an '81 longbed with them.

I believe you need the clips that mount to the wheel in order to attach the hubcaps. There may be another way of doing it though.

You can often source the wheels with clips at salvage yards. They likely have 3.5" of backspacing so will result in a wider track than the 4.5" backspaced wheels on your '86 but they fit.

i definetly dont have any clips. i looked on the website that was listed in the article nd couldn't come up with anything. i might call them tomorrow and see what tehy say. thanks.

i'll agree with the repos looking good. i lvoe the hubcaps with black wheels. but @ $65 a piece they are a little out of my budget for a $400 truck. i'd liek to make the $16 work without buying wheels. we'll see. thanks again
