Kirkham's awning

It folds in thirds then rolls up around the polls, and fits in a long bag. Very tent/umbrella like.

For 89.00 you really can't beat it. If I had a use for it, I would have one for each side of my truck...lol. Although it would be perfect for hanging off the front and rear of my jumping jack!!

I'll look tonight for pictures, and if I can't find any I'll try to take some. I like that I can it offer either side or off the back (which is where I usually use it.)

Here are some pics of my old one...

Wyo,

I had this on my old rig. This awning was well made and was readily deployable. Here it is folded up. I chose not to use the bag, I stored it in a Bazuka tube (rod holder) attached to the BajaRack.

I attached it to the rack additionally with some lashing straps that I had laying around...

I also bought some 'tie guys' to reinforce the corners...

The only knock on this awning was that the seams leak water in heavy rain...Other than that, this awning is a GREAT value.

Hope this helps!

How does it compare to the awning made by Smittybilt? I refer to the "Trail Shade" that goes for 59.99 from 4 Wheel Parts.

THanks,
Greg

Don't know about the Smittybuild awning...

I have not seen their awning, but I did purchase their seat covers...They tore within 6 mos. Kirkham makes a great product for the money.

I have made something very similar over the years using a 2' long piece of paracord. I ties the ends together to make a big loop, then the ends in a knot creating about a 1" loop at each end.

I have not had problems in the rain that you mention. Maybe they changed it a bit? The only complaint (not really) are the plastic stakes in wet weather. Use longer metal ones so you can draw it tight and tilt one end to run water off of it! I highly recommend it if you aren't looking to spend multiple hundred on an ARB or similar.

Just ordered one of these on Friday. Main reasons I was sold on it...

1. Cheap. $104 shipped
2. Great reviews
3. Made in the U.S.A

Can't wait to get installed and try it out.
