RR876 - Nice sliders! I have the same vehicle and I'm pretty impressed with its capability. It'll never beat the Defender or a RR Classic on the really tough stuff, but that's not what it's about. Good luck with the build, I'm on the same path!

I've been pinging Pro-Speed for their sliders for over a year, I'm officially on a waiting list, but it's clear they're prioritizing other product lines at the moment. It requires a few more people to keep pinging them (don't believe the 'out-of-stock' message, they need to be convinced there's a market here). Either ping them yourself - or pledge to Steve for the group-buy (Steve - you have my pledge!).

Here's mine in Newfoundland a couple of weeks back - it was a great hauler for the tarmac piece, and then extremely capable once we got there.... (Hey LK8STEVE - notice the LK8 sticker on there!)

So They have finally decide to go through with making them either way... So they should be done in October and by the time they are available for order will be November sometime... Unclear on what the price point will be just yet but we will have that soon.

Our LR3 has 165k miles and we r looking to replace. Its my wife's DD and we were looking for an LR4, but I am partial to Range Rovers. Have always loved the L322 and trying to convince her she doesnt need the 3rd row. My P38 has been everywhere and I still love her.

275/60R20. yea they rubbed a lot. Not so much anymore, problem kinda took care of itself, eventually.. i have it close to stock height now, no rubbing except in extreme articulation off road. Worst was by passenger rear where fuel filler is, went completely thru. I would probably run a narrower wheel/tire if I could, but can't go down from 20" with S/C Brembos.. I bought 18" and planned to downgrade front brakes, but still not possible I don't think.

L322 Drawer Unit Build (in instalments)

Requirements:
- Maximum use of space
- Light weight
- Easy removal (~1/2 hr removal time)
- Access to under floor (spare tire) compartment for less used items
- Access to side fuse area (limited)

Storage for:
- Waeco/ Dometic CFX 65
- Cooking / pantry drawer
- Tools and supplies drawer
- Shelf for two burner stove, folded table, solar panels
- 50 litre front runner water tank
- Side storage for two chairs, privacy tent and scissor jack

L322 Drawer Build #2

Design

The frame is made from Quickframe 1” square aluminium tube from 8020.net. The plastic panels are a mixture of 1/4” PVC and 1/4” HDPE from TAP Plastics. The 250 lb drawer runners are from Ryadon. As said previously, the water tank is from Front Runner. There are 3/8” ply panels in the base.

Total cost was in the $900-$1000 USD range excluding water tank. Rough estimates: aluminium $300, plastic corner connectors $200, drawer runners $150, plastic $250, hardware $50

Total weight 53 kg excluding the plywood panels and tank. Most of that weight is in the heavy duty drawer runners and the PVC plastic panels used for the drawers.

My 285/50R20 spare tire doesn’t fit under the load floor and so it was an easy decision to go with a design which limited access to the underfloor. The carpeted load floor cover was removed and the drawer unit base designed to fit into the same area.

Frame

Start with lots of full length square tubing if various sections

Cut to length using a woodworking compound mitre saw with an aluminium blade.

Chamfer corners where flanged frame sections meet (basically every flange end)

Use a file or de-burring tool to remove the sharp inner edge to help insertion of the plastic corner sections.

Assemble in sections taking note of what the next steps will be next to avoid the need to disassemble.

Note how the various section come together and how the chamfered flanges meet.

Drawer runners attached to drawers with lots of rivets.

PVC panels attached with double sided tape. All loads on the panels are in compression and don’t rely on the taped joints.

The frame was a tight fit and required a 1” height reduction to the upper loop.

I used 1” thick HDPE sections to mount the drawer runners to the frame. Note that the bottom drawer steel runners are an integral part of the frame strength and help support the frame across the rear side lower T joints.

Note the bracket to attach a leg to support the rear of the frame behind the EAS compressor.

Attachment points

Brackets made from aluminium angle with plastic spacers at rear bolted to original cargo tie down points.

1/4” angle plates for rear attachment to vehicle base using M10 rivnuts. Note the plastic spacers under the frame to avoid frame distortion when these bolts were tightened.

The frame has not shown any sign of movement or coming loose after several off road expeditions.

The rack used up until now is a factory LR set of roof rails and cross bars. I will soon replace with a Rhino Rack Pioneer Platform to make the RTT removal a little easier and faster. It will also allow other accessories when I’m not carrying the RTT.
