Land Cruiser camper shells?

I thought I remembered someone posting a link that touched on this a while ago, but for the life of me I can't seem to find anything now. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes camper shell to fit a 60 series Land Cruiser? I'm tossing around the idea of building one but thought someone here probably knows a better way.

Thanks,

Tyler

Que?

I've seen a chopped 60 and the guy built a canvas back cover like a Can-Back. He was in SA somewhere, I'm sure a dedicated MUDder will know who it belonged to.

I'm confused what a 60 series wagon would need a camper shell for?

Well, shortly before fitting the shell the poor thing would have a run-in with a plasma cutter, but it's all for the best. I am thinking of essentially making a class-C camper from a Land Cruiser. Just thinking at this stage, but I found a 60 series with a diesel for next to nothing that I thought would make a good platform to start from.

Well, imagination does rock....

I think I understand now what you're getting at. I've seen a few modified 70 series with a camper body. I'll attach what I have pics saved of -

I just had a thought.
At one time there was a camper based on the Toyota 4WD pickup. I want to say it was the Dune Runner or Sand Runner, something like that.
Basicaly it was a modified Dolphin motorhome.

Maybe pick up an old Dolphin and start with that?

there were toyota motorhomes made with a fiberglass shell that were called sunraders. They only made like 20 or something of the 4x4 ones. I was going to get one a few years back but bought a sportsmobile and now i am modifying a trailer instead. I hate having a whole dedicated camping vehicle sittting around for the majority of the time not in use... seems harder to justify..

We have an in-depth thread on 4x4 Toyota Motorhomes here - included is info on the Sunrader, the Santana and the Chinook.

Here's an example of someone putting an 80's Chinook camper body on a '91 Toyota truck -

One of those is a Patrol Sunny Jim ;)

But thank you for the eye candy, I can never get anough of the good ol 70 Series. Best 4x4 ever built IMO.
