Land Cruiser Virgin Here - Which 100 Series is "best"

After searching for a 100 for over 6 months, I just bought a 2005 LC w/o AHC off LA Craigslist. It was in exc cond w 55,000 so I paid 32k which sounds
like a lot but was a good deal compared to all the others with much lower prices. The problem with 10+ year old LCs and LXs is rust on the undercarriage.
It cannot be fixed or stopped. I would have preferred a 06/07 for the upgraded front but could not find a good one so I will eventually spend the $1,000
to upgrade the grill/headlights. My advice is to buy the beast example you can find that has no rust and decent front seats which are very expensive
to restore.

I found a nice 02 LX with 147k on it... Regarding Nav, if it were to crap out, couldn't you just have an aftermarket stereo/nav head unit installed or is the stock system tied into the computer/other electronics.

I can’t say about the LX but I just installed a new “radio” with 6.2” screen in a 1999 LC and it was completely stand alone.
