Some of you may have read my past comments on how I feel LR doesn't support the older vehicles and while many parts are NLA, the company really supported me today.
I had been noticing lately smelling gas fumes when filling the tank and had recently read on another site about an old RRC / Disco gas tank recall campaign where this was a sympton of a bad tank.
Called LRNA, provided my VIN number, and sure enough the tank had not been replaced under the recall.
LRNA told me no problem, bring the Rover to a dealer, and a new tank will be installed.
However, I'm living in Switzerland and the RRC is here with me - the LRNA person wasn't sure how to answer that and suggested calling LR Corporate in GB.
Before doing so, I contacted my dealer here, which actually is in Liechtenstein, and explained the situation.
They contacted LR Switzerland, region level, who contacted LR Corporate in GB to determine what could be done.
LR Corporate gave the ok to replace my tank by the Liechtenstein dealer at LR cost!
To say the least I am overly impressed and feel LR has really shown that indeed it does take customer service seriously.
On a side note, when checking my VIN, LRNA, LR Switzerland, and LR Corporate database all list my vehicle as MY1995.
This is quite odd as the build date is 10/93 and it has the '94 dash without airbags so it is strange.
My contact at LR Liechtenstein just tells me it is a "very special" Land Rover.
Just a great Rover day and makes me even more proud to own one.
