That's pretty sweet...could probably go down an inch or two on the lift and be a bit more stable...

Nice.

As for the mods, I think you need to look at the front suspension some more. It really wasn't doing a whole lot for you on that course. Heck even rigging the front winch to suck down the front some would help out.

Looks like there is some kind of independent rear braking to assist in turning.

That's what I noticed as well. Awesome truck for sure, but the front seems to be limited in up-travel. Defenders are usually very good at tucking a tire deep into the well.

Probably not enough anti-squat (if I remember correctly). Basically not the correct suspension arm lengths. Google the 3-link calculator and the 4-link calculator. Just play around with the numbers until you find something that works.

Yeah he probably does have cutting brakes. I heard an ARB air compressor so he probably just unlocks the diff, locks up one tire and pivots the entire truck. Pretty easy with the right setup on a 90.

There are guys using 60 year old series LR's, stripped down with no mods at all that are driving much harder trials courses, much faster and smoother than that.

All the gear, but no idea.

This 90 is too tall, too heavy and has far too much useless ****e bolted to it to be effective on any kind of serious trial. I have followed trailing from boyhood and the winning formula is always driver skill/experience and a simple, lightweight vehicle.

Perhaps it's owner built it as more of a trail rig than a competition trialer?
