I am looking at a Disco. What i need to know is what to look for, or what to look out for. Are there major problems in years i should avoid? Weird quirks, stuff like that?

I know you landy guys are really tight and know everything. My bro has one and its fun to drive, its very sturdy and i like the presance it has on the road.

what is your price range. Discoveries are very affordable now.

I have a 96 and love it. However I would say the 94-95 Discovery 1 or the 2004 Discovery 2.

All Land Rovers have quirks:coffeedrink: The only thing I can say is the Discovery is a rugged vehicle and will require a little more attention than some other vehicles. However unlike some vehicles it is a very straightforward 4x4 and is very easy to repair and maintain. If maintained well it will give many years of good serivce.:victory:

Take a look at Scott Brady's Disco I (there's a thread here somewhere). That would be a good place to start. They are getting older, and maintenance issues are starting to creep up, but the Rover community has them pretty much all nailed down. There are lots of threads here about what to look for and possible problem areas.

If you're looking for a project, you could do some really cool engine swaps with a Disco that would make it more reliable and economical, while still retaining all of the comforts and capability. You can probably find a high mileage DI for dirt cheap, run the engine into the dirt, then swap in a GM 4.3L.

I sold our 04 last year for 21.5 and it books at 13 now. I may buy it back in the next few months. It's out of warranty now, but for 10k I'll deal with the problems that I couldn't take dealing with when it was a 35k car.

there is an 04 disco II with 21,000 miles for sale near me for $13,900. seems like a good price for a nice vehicle.
