Hey Guys

Got the cut and pasted email below from my bro in law. Can anyone help this guy out or know where we might be able to score an engine.

Thanks

Hey Kevin,
Got a question for you, I was going to help my friend tune up is Land Rover but on his way up here he blew out his engine... There is a huge hole in his Crankcase. We towed it up to my house so it's sitting in my garage. It's pretty bad so I figure he'll need a new motor... do you have any sources to where he can find one? He has a Land Rover Discovery 2002 (V8). He's been out of a job for a while so he's really tight on the cash flow. I might attempt to help him replace the motor... any idea how difficult that would be? Any help would be great...
Thanks,
Stan

X4 On Will..

Or find a motor on E Bay.

Both Rover land and the Cannibal can be good to do business with but I think Will is a better bet. Stands behind everything he sells with vast amount of integrity!

Doing the engine swap is no more difficult than any other modern vehicle.. Lot's of stuff to remove and lot's of stuff to put back on.

All buick pattern Rover V8's will work in the 02 D2, just transfer all the goodies from the blown motor to the new. You will want a 1996 (GEMS engine managment) or later block though.

What is different GEMS to Bosch is all on the outside Ancillary if you will, so you will only need a long block. A decent used crossbolted Rover Longblock should cost under $1000.

Check the local Land Rover clubs to see what is available. Rover owners horde parts and there's a good chance that someone might have a decent longblock just laying around! Might be Really cheap and for beer the previous owner or some of the club members might come help install it!

Another bump for Will, purchased several things and called him with several questions.

Great guy and very honest.

x5 on Will Tillery. I've purchased a few things from him and they were all seamless transactions.
X6, and he's a damn good mechanic too. Did a head gasket job and radiator replacement last fall, couldn't be happier.

Replacing an engine

Depending on what state the vehicle is licensed in, a replacement engine may need to be the same year or newer as the rest of the vehicle. Emission control issues.
