caveat: i am a rover guy and all my rovers have been reliable. caveat to caveat: i own/have owned toyotas.
what has been said about the LR3 is true, all the way around. i've not owned one, but i've driven them on road (lovely) and have seen them perform wonderfully off. i pushed heavily for my wife to get one to replace her '02 Sequoia - we opted, instead, for an '07 100 Series. i also own an '06 tundra.
the Sequoia was probably the best vehicle we have owned. boring as hell, but extremely functional and terribly reliable. our 100 Series is not quite the driver i thought it would be, although it can turn around inside a tuna can. as many have said, the LC's appointments are disappointing given the price, but everything works reliably. haven't had the opportunity to take the LC off road, but, then again, it's my wife's and i have the 110 for that. however, i hope to get it dirty one of these days.
if someone asked me to buy one of the three right now (a used one, that is), i'd take the LR3. as nutty as it might sound to some, i've thought more than once about driving my 110 down to LR San Jose and trading it for a later model LR3. so far, i've been able to resist the urge...
