There is a lot of fan boy staff evolved in VW T3. Nobody can argue against this. I've driven my first T3 more than 20 years ago and know a lot of people who own some.
I stick to my experiences: from rust pov, engine, tranny, brakes (extremely bad) interior design are the newer T series way better!
I personally like them very much but I these arguments are real.
If I would go for a T3 synchro (16") , I would do only with:
TDI diesel swap
With that you will need a better tranny
Better brakes. That are available for several ££££
With that a synchro would cost me here in GER roughly 18-20k in €
For that kind of money there are better options at least for me.
