neat job on the filler andy.

If you want some more info on a 2nd tank I did a write up here: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f15/fitting-td5-auxiliary-fuel-tank-into-tdi-90-a-82966.html

I fitted the later TD5 rear tank into the back of my 300tdi, no need to move batteries this way.

I also went for a 12v transfer pump to keep the original system un-interupted. If I get a problem the original set-up still works.

not happy with the Y piece filler offroad so Im going to fit a 2nd filler. I was going to fit the surround from a 110 Hi-cap/130 but after seeing Andy's neat solution I may look out for an unusable Tub :) cheers,

What are your concerns with a Y filler? I used one and would be interested in what you see as the down side.

Hi Red,

whilst offroad I found that on rough inclines caused the fule to flow out of the front (standard) side tank into the rear. On one particularly steep rock step (which I failed to get up) it caused my engine to stall! :Wow1: I had to transfer fuel back into the front tank to get it started.

Other than that, It is ok. I find it difficult to fuel up as the route to the rear is not quite right and it is difficult to route 2" hose.

Do you think it would be worth reducing the hose size?

OK, I see. With mine you can transfer a bit, the top 1/4 of the front tank but no more than that when on the steepest of climbs. No problems filling up at full rates into either tank. Usually filling problems are in the design of the vent. I have quite a thoroughly designed baffle and vent system.

I run a Pollak fuel switch instead of a pump to change tanks. This also switches the fuel senders so the gauge shows whichever tank I'm using. I always thought transfer pumps made things more complicated.

Have the same changeover fuel valve on my tanks, works a treat. You can switch on the fly and the engine doesn't even miss a beat. Worth the money & makes install much easier.
