I want to take my learners permit test but the registry doesn't carry the study guides. They say its online but I can't find it on the Mass site. Has anyone downloaded the study guide?

Here's the motorcycle manual: http://www.mass.gov/rmv/mcmanual/index.htm

The lesson I learned after failing first time is you need to study for both motorcycle and car test because most of the questions are related to the various penalties 17 year olds would expect for drag racing, driving with other kids, alcohol, etc. and that isn't included in the motorcycle manual.

Good luck!

Graham

Wow, you have the same problems we have! Yeah, WHY do I need to know the restrictions specific to the Car learners permit when I'm trying to get my Bike learner's permit?

It might be different in your states, but when I lived in Nebraska I took the motorcycle safety course and by passing the written and riding tests I got to skip having a learners permit and skip the DMV motorcycle test, just went and got a new drivers license with the motorcycle endorsement. And by just having that extra little motorcycle safety card in my wallet I get a bit off on my Harley insurance too.

Do most people get a learners permit? Not a criticism, just never heard it discussed.

Here, you have to. You must have the learner's permit for 60 or 90 days or something. And even then... I'm still on the second level restricted permit. Have to do the final exam yet, but my only restriction is I have to have a blood alcohol level of 0.

Here in Mass. you have to get a learners permit in order to take the motorcycle test which gets you the M endorsement on your drivers license.

Here in WA you written test for your permit, and then course test for your endorsement. You MUST test in 90 days. You can only renew your permit once.

Basically the exact opposite of most states.

I did the knowledge test on a Tuesday, rode a week and a half and then course-tested that next Saturday. Passed without any points deducted. Endorsement added...
