LEDs or Flourescent lights?

I guess I'm looking at if from a pop-up camper perspective (based on the forum we're in) in which you have a few fixtures total and only a couple that will be similar (ie mabye one or two exterior and 2-3 interior) so the concern of mismatching really doesn't materialize in my mind and if it REALLY does bug you you'd only have to change out one or two others to match.

That said there would be the same concern in my mind with florescent bulbs, which also vary in those same aspects, years down the line if that is something that really concerns you. Probably best to stock up on some spare bulbs for either type of fixture with your original purchase if you think color/lumen output variation down the line is something that will bother you.

Our experience with fluorescent is when you purchase a 4100 kelvin lamp from one manufacture or another the color matches not so with LED so far.

Fair enough. Still not really a concern in my mind for a pop-up camper that only has a couple lights though.

Agree - Not trying to change anyones mind just information...they all have use somewhere.

A 12v LED feature I realy like is no loss of light output with voltage drop. The bad side now I dont know how low my batteries are.

What voltage are your led's?
12 volt led's will die when used with a typical camper setup but 14 volt led's will be fine.On my Mog I use 28 volt led's and have no problems. They make 24 volt led's but since the batteries put out closer to 28 volts, early death is inevitable. It is also important to get the correct colour temperature white to suit your eyes and end use. Lighting is never simple with many factors to consider. On our travel trailer we use simple CFL's like at home because they are cheap and easily powered by our 10 year old 400 watt inverter from a 25 amp agm battery. If colour temperature was an issue, I would just get some OTT natural sunlight CFL's.:coffee:

I agree light color is a personal choice.

Mostly we use 12v and 120/130v

Most hi-output leds use an active constant current regulator to stabilizing light output over a wide range of input voltages. The 12v LED I purchase are said to operate between 8-15v with the same light output.

LED stip lights are the way to go...

I put a set of LED strip lighting from IKEA down the center of my camper 2 years ago and have never regretted it. The system comes with a 12 volt wall wart that you just cut off and wire directly in to your 12v system. I even got the "cool" multi colored option that my son loves to play with... it has 9 different color settings and even has a "disco" setting that cycles through the colors!
I like the White, yellow and red settings myself... red is great for at night when my son is sleeping and I need to do something without waking him. The lights are even dimmable with the control pad.
I think I paid $45 for the set... the best money I spent on my camper hands down.

Hey... they have them on sale for $29.99! white only....

I just might pick up another set to put in the cab of the truck:)

I use the IKEA Inreda spotlights with great success. They are a bright yellowish light, not blue or super white. The color is perfect! They are 12v, cut cut the connector off and wire them up to a switch. Mounting hardware and brackets are included with each light puck. The light pucks tilt, so you can move the beam around. Their power consumption is very low! I was using them for several trips after my battery was below 11v and my incandescent overhead light almost completely stopped working. I will be mounting up 2 sets with a dimmer when I get home to my new-to-me FWC.
