Lee's Jeep '25 JL Wrangler Build

Upgrade the stock halogen lights to LEDs from a wreck.

The difference is MASSIVE.

Dan,
First, I really enjoy your channel.
My family moved to Alice '75~'80, I was in the 11th grade when we came back to the US.
I'll get back there one day, there is so much I want to see.
It was fun following your lap of Oz.

As for the Jeep lights, I agree - anything would be better than the stock halogens.
I thought about adding some aftermarket LED bulbs but I know too much.
I work as an R&D engineer for one of the transplant OEMs (the one in Ohio).
Every time I talked to the guys that work on lighting they preach doom and gloom about all aftermarket LEDs, even from the companies that make OEM parts.

So I have the Mopar kit on back order.
It includes the harness to hook up the halo DRLs.
It will be interesting to see if the LED settings in the body control module will run the accessory lights / relays I just hooked up.
If not we have some ideas on how to cheat the system.
And yes, the Mopar kit is crazy expensive (I have more money than time - mainly because I work for a Japanese transplant company and have no time).

Thanks for the comments!

haha, small world! I loved central Australia (I'd never been there before) and will get back again I'm sure.

For the lights, literally just get the Jeep LED ones from a wreck and cheap as you can (car-part.com has TONS).
They plug directly in.

Then get J-scan on your phone for $20 and a wifi or bluetooth OBD II dongle - there is a setting in the Jeep you can toggle using JSCAN to turn on "LED Lights", and then they just work.

There are hundreds of posts on Jeep forums of people doing it. They're brilliant, and you'll get them for a fraction of the price of any aftermarket ones, and I'll bet a LOT cheaper than buying directly from Mopar.

Good luck - I really like how practical your build is. I had meant to comment on your winter tires and tires sizes too - excellent!
