Lets Discuss 2nd Gen Armada/QX Lift Options

Yeah the Ironman kit I think is at a fantastic pricepoint.

I am curious about the Y62J. I have seen the suspension of brand new 2020 models and from my eyes they look identical to me. I even took pics to send to David Dash.
If I go Ironman, should I buy a pair of aftermarket UCAs, or is that only for over 2” lifts?

You would benefit from UCA's even at 1.5" of lift, because it will allow more droop.

You wont really have an issue with coil bucket contact at 1.5" though, so its not mandatory.

Basically, if you are looking to maximize wheel travel, then yes UCA's. Also, remember you can adjust the Ironmans so its possible to get more than 1.5".

For a ~2" lift, I don't think it would really be necessary. As leeleatherwood said, having a different UCA that cleared the coil bucket would allow further droop of your suspension. So I guess the question then becomes, what are you planning on using your vehicle for? If you're planning on doing more rockcrawling type trails, more flex, or droop, means that you're more likely to be keeping the wheel on the ground and maintaining better traction. If you're just planning on exploring BLM and FS roads for a good campsite, then the stock arms are probably fine.

Yes, they are designed different to allow them to clear the coil buckets so that you have more drop in your suspension. Also, presumably they have upgraded ball joints and are possibly stronger.

I've been patiently waiting for the Ironman 1.5" Kit thats been sold out since November to become available again. After chatting with Ironman earlier this week and them still not having a solid ETA, and me having a number of trips coming up in late March/early April that I'd really like to have a lift for, I've decided to find another solution.
The kit Ironman is selling for the Armada is the exact same as their Patrol kit. This has been confirmed by their staff and by the looking at the specs provided on the US and Australian websites. As I've said before, this makes me think that ANY non-HMBC Y62 Patrol springs and shocks will work, but I wanted to do some digging to confirm my hunch. Below is a table of all the available springs from Old Man Emu (OME), Ironman, Dobinson, and Moog that I'm aware of that will work for the Y62 platform as well as all the gas/foam cell shocks.

Obviously there are some differences between the manufactures, but they are close enough for me to believe that they will all bolt right on. Here is the catch, though; since OME and Dobinson do not claim that these will work for the Armada, they will only bring these parts in as special order and you cannot return them if they for some reason don't work. But since I have read multiple accounts of people having success with the Ironman kit, and me being impatient and on a timeline, I said F it and ordered OME 2978's, 2986's, 90015's, and 60084's from Cruiser Outfitters here in Salt Lake. I went with the heavier springs on the front since I'm planning on putting a DASH Predator Bar and winch on this summer. Everything will be here mid-March, so we'll see how well they work out!

This is a neat thing that DASH Off-Road is developing. 1" lift LCA's. Hopefully it comes to market and we can get it here in the US:
