Lewis & Clark had an amazing Air Rifle!

Did you know there was an Italian air rifle in the late 1700's? Did you know it could should .46 caliber round shot through a rifled barrel at 800psi through a 1" thick plank at 100 yards? Did you know it could shoot over 20 rounds in 30 seconds, before needing to be pumped back up? I find that simply amazing!

The NRA museum has a neat little video about it, and largely attributes Lewis & Clark's success to the presence of this firearm. Very interesting.

You can see that, or another one they carried, at the NRA museum at Bass Pro in Springfield, MO (at least it was there a few months ago).

Somebody built a close copy if it, I believe they were surprised at how powerful it was when they had a chance to use it.
