LH and RH lug threads on same wheel

Curious for some wisdom out there. New to me Fuso FG.

I was rotating tires today and pleasantly noticed RH and LH threaded studs on the same rear wheel.

Couldn’t find the info in the service manual.

Is this stock format or is the previous owner just diabolical? See the attached pictures for the stud thread stamps 😃. And one for fun

I've seen this kind of work done by shade tree mechanics and cheap owners, some people have no idea why 2 different thread directions are used on medium and heavy duty trucks, and then you have people who use whatever is available to get it back into service, too lazy or too cheap to get the correct part for the job.

Intriguing discovery. I am not so quick to judge. Quite possibly a field repair. Been there, and done some creative things to get back on the road. You use what you can get your hands on.

Lh and Rh thread on same tire are not stock.
That is absolutely correct.

Be it for LHD or RHD trucks, the simple rule is that there are left hand threads on the left side of the truck and right hand threads on the right side of the truck.
The logic is that the forward rotation of the wheel will tighten the nuts. Think of a bench grinder, where the spindle on the left has a left hand thread and the spindle on the right has a right hand thread.

If it were me, I would be changing out the incorrect studs ASAP.
One reason for doing this is that a tyre shop may not look at the stamping on the studs, and given that lots use rattle guns, may snap a stud when trying to remove a wheel.

Also... why is the nut on backwards? :unsure:

I might do that in a pinch but I'd paint the stud and nut bright orange to keep it in my awareness. The person who sold you the truck without telling you about this anomaly deserves the death penalty.
