Lifted 2wd Vans

Has anyone lifted a 2 wheel drive Ford van ? I see a couple of sites that make kits, but was wondering if these kits a neccesary or would a 2wd truck kit work.

Chris, do you have anything to lift a 2wd ?

Looking for something that would get ride heigth for mild off pavement excursions and get a person by until one could afford to do a 4wd conversion

As you know, there are a few 2wd lifts available. I like the Camburg setup. If 4wd is in the future plans, doing a partial 4x4 conversion is the way to go. These 2wd lifts aren't too cheap, so why not spend a little more & install a front axle? 80% of my customers do the 4wd conversion in stages anyway, so it makes sense. And if you decide to sell the van, it will be halfway to 4wd & have more value.

Chris, by a partial conversion, do you mean make it a faux by 4 with no t-case, front drive line and a non-functioning axle ?
Camburg does have a nice set up and I know what you are saying by the price vs. starting the conversion price....just trying to figure out if economy truck lift parts would work on a van until more $$ rolls in.

Exactly. Just install the front axle, shocks, steering, sway bar, wheels & tires. Then later on down the road you can convert the transmission & add the t-case/front driveshaft.

That would definitely be the way I would go. This way you always have the option to go 4WD without having to undo/redo anything. About the only way I would say go with a 2WD lift is if you want to go fast/pre-runner type rig but I really don't see that being how a van is getting used. Truck yeah but not a van.

My .02 worth.

Mine is 2wd right now. I used fabtech lift coils from an i-beam for pickup and alignment. Camburg makes a sweet 2wd kit aswell.

But theres nothing like a ujoint 4x4 van so thats the next step, again, once the parts arrive.

My 2wd lift will be for sale shortly.

And i wouldnt call it a faux 4x4. Just a 4x4 van built in stages. Since some of us dont have the funds to do it all at once.

like most i am limited by funds. ujoint is very much the way to go. main reason for staying 2wd for me mpg/ fuel stoage. 4wd conversions require shortened fuel tanks. majority of my use is winter interstate driving and light offroad camping. so it really comes down to your use and needs as well as wallet.

I ,too, don't have the $$ to even do the UJOINT kit in stages at the moment, thus the inquiry as to starting off lifting a 2wd a few inches to possibly fit 32-33 under it.
Starting off with forking out a couple - 300 dollars to lift it and figure out if going full tilt on the kit is more in line with my generic beer budget....:sombrero:

I here you brother, I'm slowly saving up for the dana 60 and then the kit. Esp. with other projects in the mix ie 77' RX3SP. I think the hunt is just as fun as building.

I have 315 75 16 on the van with i believe a 4" lift. It rubs and i had to cut the fender a lil. 31 to 33 would fit better but the tires where free.

Your van looks fantastic with those tires. The way they fill up the wheel wells reminds me of a Class 11 Bug. Awesome. How wide are those rims? They look stock. Are you using the stock Radius Arms and were you able to get the alignment right? I'm under the impression that 2" if lift is the limit without going to drop brackets or bent beams.
