Lifting an Xreas 4runner

So my neighbor has an 06 4Runner Sport with the Xreas suspension. He is getting jealous of my tacoma, so he says, so he wants to add an OME suspension lift, sliders and ARB or Shrocks bumper. I told him I'd help him out with that! Anyway I am not very familiar with the 4th Gen 4Runners and the Xreas suspension. I told him that I did not think the OME lift was compatable with the Xreas suspension suspension. Does anyone know if this is true? If so are there any lifts compatable with it or does it have to be disconnected/removed?

he has two options: keep the xreas intact and use spacers (any brand) or safely remove the xreas system and go with the traditional lift.

note: xreas can be successfully removed safely. It's a cross linked pressurized system so you want to make sure all of the wheels are off the ground when disconnecting the system. you can leave the lines attached or completely remove them (up to the owner). you can reinstall them safely again as this has been tested and proven by a fellow 4th gen owner (FirstToy).

Yep, it is very do-able even for someone with limited experience like me. The X-REAS uninstall is a simple matter of just disconnecting the lines with the shocks fully extended. There is a valve that keeps the fluid in the lines that stay on the truck (unless you want to fully remove these). Let us know what he decides in terms of the front bumper. I'm considering this as my next mod and am undecided between ARB and SW.

I took my x-reas out and lifted with an OME setup. I am very happy:sombrero: It can be done, and it's pretty easy. x-reas just means that the front and rear shock on each side are connected by a tube and the shocks share oil. So when replacing the shock, you disconnect the valve and that's it. The valve keeps the oil in the tube, if done correctly there is no mess.

Another happy OME susupension user here. :ylsmoke: I removed the XREAS and installed the OME about 15K ago. I love the change and highly recomend it. The 120.com com links are the best write ups on how to. Let out a yell if you have any questions for me.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to read through the links then pass this on to him. I'll let you know what he decides to do. I think he'll be happier with the OME suspension but he has mentioned just going with a spacer lift so he can keep the Xreas since he really likes that. I've never had a spacer lift but I would think it would make the ride worse and possible just negate any benefits to the Xreas. Anyone out there that has kept the Xreas and gone with the spacer lift and can comment on the ride?

The front stainless steel skid plate came with the Shrockworks winch bumper. They use that to tie the bumper directly to the front cross member. It also closes up the front end with protection nicley.
