Lightforce HID conversion (Lots of Pics)

Update: I got a new ballast from the ebay seller and installed it and it seems to be working fine now (haven't had much time to use them). I still need to send the busted ballast to the seller as I chose the express warranty option and spent $16 (refunded when he receives my busted ballast) to get a new ballast shipped out to me right away. I paid on a Sat. and received the new ballast on Wed., so no complaints so far about using my warranty.

Now, to get a 50watt kit for my LF240!

Long time between posts...

Turned on my 7 bulbed blitz probably nearly over a year ago now.
She melted after about ten minutes of running. Not too bad considering...

Have done some weird things like throw a cheap ballast under water for testing...

Some other bloke shoved a 55w kit into his 170's and bolted them onto his motorbike

Nice write-up! I am eying some 240 Blitz's now to replace my ProComp 130W-ers. REALLY like the HID. Wondering if I should just order them in HID from LF or do the conversion? How do you find them to be working in terms of power consumption?

Thanks for the write up! It inspired me to do mine as well. I switched things up a bit. To clean out the hole to allow for the HID bulb, I used a 11/16" paddle wood bit. At $3.60 it was a bargain when compared with a $110 end mill and a $26 twist bit.

I am also very fond of GE black silicone - It's been holding my flares on for a more than about 18 months - as much as my bumper would like to rip them off, they refuse to budge.

So I will be holding my bulbs in place with some silicone. I will post up pics when I assemble them and report back if I have a failure.

Thanks again for the inspiration.
