Limb lifters, Branch busters with ARB bumper

Okay so what I have seen here is the usual limb raiser but at one end you put in a chain shock absorber spring from a storm door right. I saw this done on a 1 gen hummer and it looked like a great idea. If you wanted to overcome the 'poser look' you could just stretch the cable spring and take it off if you were using a hook at one end. Yet No? :victory:

You're right regarding the storm door spring, and you can probably also tell it doesn't have a high enough stiffness constant, and so it has to be nearly fully compressed to achieve the proper tension/response for the cable. That leaves very little longitudinal "give" to release a hook end (my original plan).

There are two things I'd like to do to improve on what I have: insert a low-profile overcenter latch that would give me 3"-5" of instant slack to allow me to raise the hood or remove the cable (haven't found one yet); and replace my limb-snagging turnbuckle and cable termini with a minimum-diameter integrated cable/turnbuckle, such as I have seen in architectural railing systems, like here:

Meanwhile, I am resigned to enduring "poser" status until my off-road driving skills develop to the level my vehicle is capable of handling. Could be a while...

Cheers,
