Location of EGT t/c on a VN turbo

Has any one here installed the variable nozzle turbo upgrade kit on their 300 TDI ? (this is the turbo used on 2.8 international)

is so ,
did you install EGT thermocouple in the exhaust manifold right at the turbo flange or in the turbo itself ?

The only spot that makes the most sense to me is right at the turbo flange on the manifold as it seems to have enough material to drill and tap 1/8 NPT

thanks
Kris

Find the hotest cyclinder and put it in that runner of the exhaust manifold. At work we use somthing like this [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Raytek-MT4-Non-Contact-Thermometer-Sighting/dp/B0002198GY"]Amazon.com: Raytek MT4 Mini Temp Non-Contact Thermometer Gun with Laser Sighting: Home Improvement[/ame]
to find out what hole is not firing. Can also be used to find what cyclinder runs the hotest

I've got the same EGT location as Michele. Works fine, but you have to remember post turbo temps will be 200 - 300° lower than pre. Otherwise, no issues with it.

cheers
