Looking at a 1985 G280 - Cant find a FAQ - Help me out, please??

Hey guys -

I am looking at a 1985 G280. Good records, all new vacuum hoses and injectors. Some rust near the windscreen. A bubble at the rain gutter and one near the rear window. New interior. Needs paint (not that I care...) Has the rear jump seats and aftermarket seat belts in the jump seats.

I have no idea what to look for, or how to value them.

How is the reliability? I really like the look. MBZ has always treated me well. This is very early, so should not be a ton of issues with computers and crap.

Go to the clubgwagen forum and pointedthree. Both forums are G-wagen specific and the guys there know more about the trucks then anyone else on the web. Some frequent here but are always "on" there.

Generally speaking the '85's are solid if maintained well. If the truck does not have a CA title make damn sure you can register in CA before you buy. Any signs of vibrations in the drivetrain is a big red flag. Go to those forums, there is tons of info.
