It's a former Canadian mining truck and could be the makings of an absolutely amazing expedition truck! If you have the time, the money and are Ok with the amount of work, it could be literally a one in a million.

$15K is a CHUNK of cash for an ex-mine truck, and most of them are *hammered*. These are also STD trim, which means no A/C, no P/S, vinyl interior.

By the time you re-gear the beast, add a turbo to the anemic 3B, replace the heavy utility bed with a more expedition-friendly solution, and revamp the interior of the cab, you're going to be WAY over what it would cost to buy a late model FZJ80 and prep it.

Don't get me wrong, 75 series Land Cruisers are great rigs, but for expedition use in North America, a Canada-spec mine truck is not the greatest starting platform, especially at this price.

I spent a lot of hours driving and riding in 75 series Land Cruisers and owned four of them that rarely saw pavement. Great rigs, but very tough on the driver and passengers, even after considerable upgrades.

Great points Henry. From my limited experience with the ex-mining trucks, I have been impressed with what some people have been able to do if. But, like you said, you have to be willing to spend possibly more then outfitting a nice 80 series.

As far as the 3B, I personally don't think it's that bad. My 84 BJ-42 that I had could easily cruise and hold at 120 km/h on the highway (although it was lighter and had a 5 speed). But yes, a turbo is a world of difference.

Do you have any pics of the old 75 series trucks you used to own? Would love to see some :victory:
