Hello,

I am looking for a G-Wagen or FJ60. It has to be 1982 or older. For G-Wagen I would prefer 4 doors, but a 2 doors will be ok.
Gas or Diesel.
If anyone has one or knows of one for sale, please let me know. Thanks

Ah, I just sold mine recently.
Where are you located?
Manual or automatic?
Color preference?
Can you deal with rust? If so, how much?
How much are you looking to spend?

I am in Valparaiso IN
Doesn´t matter, could be either manual or automatic. I personaly prefer manual, but automatic will be fine.
Any color will be fine.
Yes, I can deal with rust, but not much. If there is rust in parts that will not affect the general structure and could be fixed without replacing parts that will be fine.
My budget will be $15.000, for a good one.
Thanks

Thanks a lot! I sent an email to this 280GE, 1980 but I haven´t heard back yet.
Well, it has to be 1982 because I am planning to drive it to South America and leave the car there. To be able to legalize it in Brazil it has to be 30 year old.
The goal is not transport the car but the adveture trip to the South.
As a matter of fact, I looking for other truck options, such as Blazer K5, Van 4x4 and FJ60, but I really like more the G-Class.
So, how difficult is to get parts? Is it too expensive?
Sorry, for this kind of simple question, but I am not a G-class, not yet.

First one looks pretty nice from the pics, typical rust from what I see. You HAVE to look at the previous records/documentation to know if these rigs are really the mileage stated. Since there are only 5 digits in the odometer, it could be 198k or 298k! 2nd one looks repainted(door handles), missing rubber side trim, spare, etc...looks really barren. Headlight surrounds were painted(?) and bubbling.

Parts are available, but only from a few sources = higher cost due to lower demand (than an FJ60 for example).
Pretty straightforward to work on, built Mercedes tough, such great vehicles for sure. But that greatness comes at a higher $ cost, yes.

if youre going to drive and sell, get something that was domestic market in brazil AND was affordable. this is the wrong truck.

i dont know what was available in Brazil but i think they had a plenty of import restrictions to encourage domestic production. id get a big suv though, youre gonna live in it for a few months, not keep it. G's arnt roomy. im 6'4" and its under the sleep inside and wake up straight threshold.

having had an fj60 id take that over the G no matter what.

but... i bet US vans were available there... id look into that. an industrial looking van wont attract attention in mexico etc, it'll provide great space and a place to crash comfortably, security, if youre willing to spend 15g on a 30yo rig you can get an old quigly 4x4 ford easy, parts will be uber cheap...

its the adventure, not the truck, and this aint the truck.
