Looking for Butane/Propane (LPG) Fuel Canisters

Looking for the best/good deal on a case of these (presumably they come in cases of 10-12) used for Jet Boil type, light weight one burner style stoves. They usually come in various sizes - 100gm (3.5 oz), 225 gm, 450 gm, etc containers.

Perhaps if we have enough interest and the supplier agrees, we can do a group buy of many cases and have them delivered to one spot and then dispersed or picked up.

Someone told me these are refillable when you have the right attachment and I would like to know more about this attachment (where one gets it) and where one gets the fuel to refill them.

Always thought these canisters where a bit anti-green/enviro as they are not supposed to be refillable. Almost everyone that hikes, bikes and camps use these for something (stoves, lights, lanterns, etc.) and then discards them - ultimately into land fills. Wouldn't it be better if they all had a universal refillable attachment as well as fitting all appliances?

One option is to buy an adapter to refill the 1lb disposable tank.

The other option is to forget the disposable tank and run say an 11 lb tank with a hose adapter to the appliance.

This site has good info on refilling the small butane canisters, it starts to get sketchy with the thinner tanks mind you:

I did not shop for the lowest price, just posted examples, :ylsmoke:

My use would be primarily to boil water for hot drinks (tea, hot chocolate, etc.) or instant soup etc. The info I could find on my stove was 10,000 BTU for my stove which calculates and is collaborated by manufacture for the stove to boil 1 L of water in about 3 minutes depending on altitude and weather. The 4 oz resealable canister is good for about 1-2 hours (again depends on conditions) so about 20-40 boils per canister. Hence 1-2 canisters per camping trip (again depends on conditions) so I only need about 6 of these cans for a year's worth of camping.

The website above that I found has the Primus 4 oz 80/20 mix for $102.96 for 24 cans (or $4.29 per can) plus shipping from their warehouse in LV, NV. I have a friend who will take 6 as will I so who wants the other 12? or we'll split the case 50/50 and have them for over a year.

Anybody seen these cans cheaper - -Wal-Mart, Costco, Sam's?

I was thinking about this route, not sure if you remember seeing it on my counter or not. It would take an inverter and some mounting genius of course.

Its 700 watts (runs 3 minutes per cup) so I'm not sure how many cups of hot water, coffee, or tea one could make before draining the battery. Its super convenient though :)

No I didn't see it at your place Clint. But it is a bit specialized in that it can only heat up water. I got the stove to be able to make a cup of hot drink as well as heat up water for a soup or even a meal if necessary rather than my COBB, which is a bit slower. I would like to see this next time I am at your place.

Thanks Igor, I saw those at MEC as well. Everyone has these in town but all are at similar or higher prices and do not sell them by the case. Would think if one bought them by the case one could get them for under $5 each.

This 3 gallon tank is one of the best tools I own.... http://www.ragascousa.com/ragasco.html highly recommended

Great suggestion, but a bit larger than I need and it has to fit my Coleman Max stove which the canisters do.

Wow Clint, that is the same place I found yesterday via eBay. I need to get you to do all my searches from now on. I got a case of them and a friend near their warehouse is picking them up! Thanks tons for your efforts.

Now, your next assignment should you and your team decide to accept is.....
