Looking for mapping software, help!

I'd like to find something I can run on a tablet using an external gps antenna that has the largest selection of forest service roads, while allowing me to save and add notes to routes. Best options?

What tablet? what OS? Trimble has some apps that do that.

Ahhhh yes the critical details. I prefer android, galaxy tab s, but I also have a Dell venue 8 pro that runs a full version of windows, not the mobile.

back country navigator is the best but costs $12

if you have a notebook I say run delorme topo with a gps puck

This is what I run with an IPad. I like the Topo maps. I'm fine with them being old maps, has the sites I have interest in.

Running an I Pad mini I use Scenic Maps West. They have it for various areas of the US. About 10 bucks and stay resident on your machine no additional downloads. Check it out
